Time tracking

Time tracking with geofence

Clock in, break and clock out by smartphone – no timesheets. Clocking is only possible at the site itself, and the hours flow automatically into payroll and billing.

The advantages of geofence time tracking

  • Done with timesheets

Clock-in, break and clock-out by smartphone – entirely paperless and with no extra hardware.

  • Clocking only at the site

The geofence means time can only be recorded inside the site radius – no clocking in from home or on the road. Every record is stamped with location and time.

  • No retyping

Recorded hours flow straight into payroll and customer billing – no transcription errors.

  • Planned vs. actual against the roster

Planned and actual times side by side – deviations are visible immediately.

  • Privacy-compliant

Only the location at the moment of clocking is recorded, no continuous tracking – proof of working time, not surveillance.

  • Everything live in the control room

Clock-ins and clock-outs in real time, instead of collecting notes at month-end.

  • On any device

A smartphone is enough – including staff-owned devices. Darkbird also runs on tablet and PC.

Timesheets were always our biggest source of errors – scrawled, handed in late, painstakingly retyped at month-end. With the time clock in the smartphone the hours are right immediately – and I can even see that people really clocked in at the site.

What is GPS and geofence time tracking?

With geofence time tracking your staff record their working hours by smartphone right at the site – clock-in, break, clock-out. A geofence is a virtual radius around the site: when clocking, the app checks the location, and time can only be recorded inside that area. That replaces handwritten timesheets with location-accurate, reliable time tracking – the basis for correct wages and clean proof for customers.

Frequently asked questions about time tracking

How does the time tracking work?

Your staff record their working time by smartphone right at the site – clock-in, break and clock-out. The times are available centrally straight away.

What is a geofence?

A geofence is a virtual radius around the site. When clocking, the app checks whether the employee is inside that area.

Can someone clock in from home or on the road?

No. Clocking is only possible inside the geofence at the site – recording from home or on the road is ruled out.

Is this surveillance of employees?

No. Only the location at the moment of clocking is recorded, not continuous tracking. It is about proving working time, not surveillance.

Do the hours flow into payroll automatically?

Yes. The recorded times flow straight into payroll and customer billing – without retyping.

Do I need special hardware or terminals?

No. An internet-capable smartphone is enough – including staff-owned devices. Darkbird also runs on tablet and PC.

Does it work without a mobile signal?

Yes. Recording, including location, also works offline; the data syncs as soon as a connection is available again.

Do I see the times in real time?

Yes. Clock-ins and clock-outs are live in view, including a planned-vs-actual comparison against the roster.
